Media Release: Early Voting Now Open for the 2025 Markham Ward 7 By-Election

MARKHAM, ON – September 26, 2025 – Early Voting for the 2025 Markham Ward 7 By-Election is now open, running from Friday, September 26, to Sunday, September 28, from 10 AM to 8 PM at the following locations:

  • Aaniin Community Centre, 5665 14th Avenue
  • Rouge River Community Centre, 120 Rouge Bank Drive

Eligible voters can cast their ballot at any voting place in Ward 7 during days when the voting place is open.

A person can vote in this by-election if they are:

  • At least 18 years old by final voting day (September 29);
  • A Canadian citizen; and,
  • A resident, landowner or tenant of Markham’s Ward 7 (or the spouse of one).

Eligible voters may only vote once, regardless of how many properties they may own or rent in the ward.

A voter information letter is not needed to vote in this by-election, but it helps make the voting process faster and easier. Eligible Ward 7 voters who don’t receive a voter information letter can still vote by visiting a voting place and presenting acceptable ID showing their name and qualifying Ward 7 address. Checking, updating or adding their information ahead of time at ElectionsMarkham.ca/Register will make voting easier.

Even if a voter receives a voter information letter, they are still required to show ID when they go to vote. Here’s a list of IDs that can be used to vote.
