On this page, you will find a list of important dates for Markham municipal and school board elections.

  • June 30: First day to register as a candidate or third party advertiser
  • August 15 (at 2 PM): Deadline to register as a candidate (or withdraw if you have already registered)
  • August 16: Certification of candidates
  • September 1 to 29: Election sign permitted posting period
  • September 22, 23, 24 and 25: Special ballots available at Elections Markham Headquarters (by appointment)
  • September 26: Last day to register as a third party advertiser
  • September 26, 27 and 28: Early voting days
  • September 29: Final voting day
  • October 1: Certified election results posted
  • November 13: Last day for candidates and third party advertisers to accept donations and incur expenses, or request a campaign extension due to a financial deficit
  • December 15 (at 2 PM): Deadline for candidate and third party advertiser post-election campaign financial statements
  • December 16 to April 14, 2026: Campaign finance compliance audit period
  • May 13, 2026: End of extended campaign period (for campaigns that requested an extension)
  • June 12, 2026 (at 2 PM): Supplementary financial statements due (for campaigns that requested an extension)
  • June 12 to October 13: Supplementary campaign finance compliance audit period
  • September 2026: Candidate contribution rebates issued
